What in the world is all this? How are those pages ever going to be useful — especially with so little activity on the wiki? - dcljr (discussion) 2 mars 2018 à 01:32 (UTC)

Turkish wikinews community told me to create category date and archive date since his creation. Every three months, my bot create them. I creates those pages in other wikinews : pt, ca, fr, el, ja, zh, sr, ta, bs… In other time, it creates rugby pages results in fr, ca and pt.-- Bertrand GRONDIN  → (écrire) 2 mars 2018 à 09:45 (UTC)
When and where was this request made? The only relevant discussions I can find are Discussion utilisateur:Grondin/année 2009#Bot flag on tr.wikinews (when bot status was given on that wiki), Discussion utilisateur:Grondin/année 2010#Grondinbot in tr:n (when you were asked to not create empty categories and you replied that you couldn't prevent that), and maybe tr:Kullanıcı mesaj:Srhat#Silinsin (which mentions you and your bot, but I cannot understand the conversation using Google Translate). Note that the Turkish Wikinews no longer has any admins and there is very little activity by regular (human) users over there. So, could you consider doing the following: (1) ask in an appropriate place on that wiki whether the daily categories and project pages are still wanted (at least, in the way it is currently being done), (2) suspend the bot's activity there until you are explicitly requested by that community to continue its work, (3) direct the bot to delete empty categories dated more than, say, one year (or one month?) in the past, as these are unlikely to be needed in the future, (4) modify the bot to periodically create only wanted date-based categories (perhaps every month), (5) similarly modify the bot to create and link to only date-based project pages that are actually needed, deleting and removing links to those that are not, (6) do the same on other wikis having no admins where the bot performs the same tasks. I know this is a lot of work, but as things stand, the bot seems to be creating many more pages that never get used than ones that do (on that wiki, anyway); this is not a good situation. - dcljr (discussion) 5 mars 2018 à 21:08 (UTC)
When we initialize category pages, we do not not know when a contributor create a news. About the bot flag : [1]. The category dates work with archives date, by example : n:tr:Vikihaber:2018/Nisan/1 with n:tr:Kategori:2018/06/01. If you initialize after the archive date, it breaks it. The problem of this wiki, i became inactive. Finally, what I do not appreciate are your threats and your threatening injunctions on your part. -- Bertrand GRONDIN  → (écrire) 6 mars 2018 à 11:10 (UTC)
Relax. I intentionally said, "could you consider doing the following", which makes all of my statements suggestions. My comment contained no "threats" nor "threatening injunctions" whatsoever. I am wondering whether it would be a better idea, at least on wikis with little activity, to take a retrospective approach rather than a prospective one: that is, to create categories only after they have been linked to by way of the template that is used to provide dates on articles. The bot could periodically check for wanted categories of the type it creates (like tr:Kategori:2009/12/06) and only create categories that are actually needed. As for the project pages ("Vikihaber:…") for individual days and months, are they even necessary if similar category pages exist? Isn't that unnecessary duplication? (And about the bot flag, I know the bot was approved for "Interwiki linking", but I don't see where it was approved to create these categories and project pages. Where was that discussed?)

Amicalement. FrankyLeRoutier % Service après-vente 14 mars 2018 à 03:54 (UTC)
